Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona

Inside the cool, calming courtyard of the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona. The Pati de les Dones courtyard is an exquisite balance of old and new, and the early morning sunshine perfectly illuminates the superb new building, opened in 1994. I love the contrast of light and shade, and the tranquility of the space, and am pleased by the way the photo captures this.

While I was setting up the shot I was apprehended by two (admittedly very friendly) members of staff, who informed me I had to sign a disclaimer form at the office. Whilst I filled out the form I had the opportunity to show the staff members some of my recent panoramas on my iPhone using PangeaVR. It’s a great way of explaining exactly what panoramic photography is about, unhindered by traditional language barriers. Hopefully they’ll like this image as much as I do.

Mercat de la Boqueria, Barcelona

Inside the glorious Mercat de la Boqueria, Barcelona. It’s early morning and the stallholders are meticulously laying out their wares before the crowds descend on the market.

This place is heavenly: it’s an extraordinary assault on all your senses as you navigate amongst the beautifully displayed fresh and speciality foodstuffs. Riotous colours, ribald sounds, rich aromas and remarkable sights abound. Truly one of the best markets I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting.

Looking towards Dalt Vila, Eivissa

Rainclouds gather in the distance as the sky darkens over Ibiza old town. The Cathedral of Santa Maria d’Eivissa sits on the top of the hill of the old Dalt Vila, or upper town, in a strategic position overlooking the harbour.
