Tod in snow 5: A fairytale passage through the hedgerow

pano_tod_snow5_1500px

Love the way snow can change the look of anything. This pathway between rows of briars and holly became a tunnel into a winter wonderland, like something out of a children’s story.

Not much natural light at this time of day, so this was shot as a series of 15sec exposures. The snow acted as a giant reflector, giving even lighting throughout the scene.

Tod in snow 4: Overlooking the town

The upper Calder valley, transformed into a winter wonderland by the generous pre-Christmas snows.

My mate and I went sledging here; just down the hill you can see a couple of snowboarders also taking advantage of the conditions. Great way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

Tod in snow 3: Icicles under the viaduct

This was shot from a narrow ledge part-way up the side of a railway viaduct arch which cuts across Todmorden. In the picture is Todmorden’s Market and the disused Abraham Ormerod Health Centre, where Harold Shipman practiced as a GP early in his career. Check out the large icicles hanging above the camera.
